It is important to consider that in spite of work being done in professional associations addressing the timiliness, openness and accessibility of multicultural awareness and skill development in counselors and counselling programs, there is a gap in timely research around the specific skills employed to exemplify that awareness of multicultural issues is being applied to the racial concerns of the client. In some sobering respects, if multicultural awareness proved efficient and fulfilled, we would not need to be talking in terms of the racial experience of our clients, in other words “The absence of consistent anti-racism strategies as part of broader multicultural policies would be unproblematic if racism had been eliminated" (Berman and Pardies, 2008)
