Invited speaker to a workshop in Lisbon, Portugal, convened by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The workshop titled "Democracy at 10: Understanding the Role of External Actors in Young Democracies", explored the successes and failures of 'new' democracies in comparative perspective. I was invited to share insights from my research and book which explores the complexities of democratic failures in the Philippines (Chasing Freedom: The Philippines' Long Journey to Democratic Ambivalence - 2022).
