Description
This panel brings together normative and empirical perspectives to examine what constitutes a healthy public sphere in contemporary democracies. Drawing on research into deliberation, political communication, participation, and democratic resilience, panelists explore how public spheres enable (or constrain) inclusive dialogue, contestation, and collective problem-solving, and how they are shaped by institutional arrangements, media environments, and citizen practices. The panel forms part of a two-day workshop funded by the Australian Political Studies Association in Brisbane. Panelists: Michelle Riedlinger (QUT), Ehsan Dehghan (QUT), Selen Ercan (UC), Jordan McSwiney (UC), Chair: Hans Asenbaum (UC).| Period | 22 Mar 2024 |
