For Pete Kains, signing up to the Navyin 2008 was the start of an entirely new life. Coming from a traditional immigrant family with rigid expectations about which career paths should be followed, Navy provided an alternative lifestyle with a sense of freedom. But a range of distressing work and family events took their toll on Mr Kains, leading tohim being placed onto administrative duties and discovering the ARRTS program through a post on the Defence intranet.
