Agility as a concept is growing and expanding as the complexities around projects rise in this uncertain and hypercompetitive environment. From more flexibility on process and sequences, agility has turned into a philosophical paradigm, a holistic perspective and a mindset that promotes outside the box thinking and innovation. Since there are no set boundaries for innovation and agility, researchers and practitioners struggle to anchor into a stable framework to tackle the complexities of a project environment. One of the critical obstacles is the “context” that offers unique circumstances in each case, which is further compounded by organisational and national culture. Understanding culture is often very difficult for the regular practitioners, project managers who are traditionally habituated to focus too much on the process and management. As a result, many are likely to lose sight of subtle cultural and apparently hidden issues that may significantly impact the project.
