I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working in the Centre for Conservation Ecology and Genomics. My role is primarily focused around a large scale project to reintroduce the locally extinct frog species Litoria aurea, or Green and Golden Bell Frog, to the ACT. This species has primarily declined due to the amphibian chytrid fungus, an invasive pathogen that causes the often fatal disease chytridiomycosis in hundreds of species across the globe. This project will trial novel mitigations to reduce the impact of chytrid fungus to green and golden bell frogs with the aim of supporting their reintroduction to the ACT.
Prior to this position, I completed my PhD at the University of Western Australia where I developed novel methods to prioritise conservation action across large landscapes, specifically from a genomic and ecological frame. This follows from my Honours research at the Australian National University where I modelled how climate change may affect Australian frogs, chytrid fungus in Australia, and the impact of chytridiomycosis under various climate change scenarios. My primary interests are in the preservation of all biodiversity (though I have a particular soft spot for amphibians), and approaching conservation from multiple angles.
