Dr. Joanna Wall Tweedie is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise. Joanna was a physiotherapist prior to commencing her research career. She holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business (sport management) from Deakin University. Joanna represented Australia on numerous occasions as a middle-distance runner. As a junior athlete, she was Australian champion on track and cross country and was ranked in the top 20 in the world. Her running career ended prematurely due to serious illness and injury—an experience she credits for her enduring concern for the health and well-being of athletes.
