Biography

My research interests intersect educational, positive, and environmental psychology.

Specific areas of expertise and interest include outdoor education, adventure therapy, green exercise, as well as in experiential education, online education, open education, psychology of social networking, and program evaluation.

My PhD examined the effects of Outward Bound programs on life effectiveness skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, leadership etc.

My current research includes the effects of adventure therapy programs on life skills, mental health, and adjustment to health and medical conditions.

I teach ungraduate units in motivation and emotion, and Honours-level psychological research methods. Previously I've managed psychology-based work-integrated learning internships and convened the Honours in Psychology course at the University of Canberra.

Current areas of research supervision include public perceptions of therapeutic utility of psychedelic drugs, evaluation of ACT Landcare nature-based wellbeing programs, evaluation of Menslink counselling and mentoring, preventing and coping with occupational violence, relationship impacts on conspiratorial thinking, and body image flexibility.
