Biography

Dr Kelly Marriott-Statham is a registered nurse, educator, and early-career researcher specialising in person-centred practice in the care of older people. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Canberra, working within the Clinical Placements with Older People (CPOP) program, which aims to strengthen the future gerontological nursing workforce by connecting students with high-quality, relationally focused clinical placements. Kelly is also a member of the Centre for Ageing Research and Translation (CARAT).

Kelly completed her PhD through Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh (UK), where her research explored how the practice environment influences sharing decision making between older people and nurses in residential aged care in Australia.

She holds an Honorary Senior Fellowship with the University of Wollongong, is affiliated with the Centre for Person-centred Practice Research at Queen Margaret University, and is an active member of the Person-centred Practice International Community of Practice. Her broader research interests include dementia care innovation, academic integrity in nursing, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health education. Kelly is committed to advancing relationship-based care and bridging the gap between research, policy, and practice in aged care services.
