Khalid Mehmood is a research fellow at the HEAL Global Research Centre, University of Canberra, with expertise in air quality modelling, atmospheric emissions, climate change, and public health. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Zhejiang University, where his research focused on biomass-burning emissions, atmospheric chemistry, and regional haze pollution. His work combines chemistry-transport and dispersion modelling, artificial intelligence, and statistical methods to investigate air pollution dynamics and forecasting, greenhouse gas emissions, and the health impacts of particulate matter and ozone across Asia, Europe, and Australia. He currently contributes to research on wildfire smoke and climate-related health risks in Southeast Asia and Australia, with particular attention to vulnerable communities. His broader research interests include emission dynamics, climate–air quality interactions, and evidence-based approaches to improving environmental and public health.
