Biography

Dr. Farhad Hossain is currently working as an Associate Professor in IoT and Sensor Networking and serves as the Capability Lead in Network Engineering & Cybersecurity at the University of Canberra, ACT 2617, Australia. He received his PhD degree in Wireless Networking from The University of Sydney, NSW 2006, Australia, in 2014. Earlier, he completed his BSc and MSc degrees, both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2003 and 2005, respectively.

Dr. Hossain has a strong research record with 94 peer-reviewed papers published in highly prestigious journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include 6G Cellular Networks, Quantum Networks, IoT and Sensor Networks, Intelligent Transport Networks, Underwater Communication Systems, and Smart Grid Communications, with a strong focus on Applied AI/ML and Digital Twin technologies for Next-Generation Network Optimisation. His work also extends to Network Security, including Attack Detection and Prevention, Anomaly Detection, and Hardware Failure Prediction in complex network systems. He was the recipient of the best paper awards at three international conferences and the Student Travel Grant at the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), Anaheim, CA, USA, in 2012. He has been serving as Editor, Track Chair, TPC  Member, and Reviewer for many international journals and conferences.
