Biography

Dr Amin is a lecturer in Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Canberra. He is a Registered Nurse with professional experience in Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana. Dr Amin leads research in the secondary prevention of diabetes. He develops clinically relevant, scalable lifestyle interventions and leverages innovative health technologies to reduce cardiovascular risk in priority populations - particularly older adults, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and individuals living in low‑resource settings. He applies transcultural nursing frameworks to understand how culture, context, and social determinants shape chronic disease self‑management and cardiovascular risk. His work advances equitable and culturally safe approaches, with direct relevance to clinical practice and health equity.

His academic output reflects strong methodological breadth, including mixed‑methods, randomized controlled trials, qualitative studies, and systematic reviews/ meta‑analysis. His doctoral research at Deakin University evaluated a home‑based physical activity intervention aimed at reducing metabolic syndrome markers in Ghanaian adults living with type 2 diabetes. He contributes actively as a reviewer in: Journal of bodywork and Movement Therapy, Nutrition Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases, and Nursing Open.
