Personal profile

Biography

Noelyn Perriman (RN (Bachelor of Nursing Science); MM (Midwifery); Grad Cert (Research); PhD candidate) is a midwife, researcher and educator. I have had a long association with Calvary Public Hospital as a Maternity Educator and Manager of Learning and Development. I developed a highly popular and successful Midwifery New Graduate Program, which enjoyed superior retention rates within a positive, supportive environment. My most recent experience prior to joining the University of Canberra was as Principal Trainer for the DHR. My areas of responsibility included Maternity, Neonates/Paediatrics and Research.

I have more than 35 years of experience as a midwife in practice, midwifery education and research. My PhD has a continuity focus with a particular emphasis on measuring satisfaction within a midwifery continuity model of care. My PhD is close to being finalised, with the COMcareSS questionnaire developed to measure satisfaction, using the Delphi Method. The COMcareSS questionnaire has also been tested for reliability and validity. The paper detailing outcomes of validation is nearing completion. The results are very positive and as a result ACT Health as part of their 10-year Maternity in Focus Plan are intending to use a modified version of the COMcareSS questionnaire.
