Biography

Dr Tayara has worked in higher education since 2008 and has held academic leadership roles in Lebanon, the United Kingdom and Australia. Her professional background includes psychological consultancy for NGOs in Lebanon, Jordan and the United Kingdom supporting marginalised and refugee communities. Her research focuses on lived experience and identity in counselling, neurodiversity and trauma informed counselling, and decolonial and anti oppressive approaches to therapy. Her current work examines the professional experiences of neurodivergent therapists and the mental health of children in marginalised and culturally diverse communities to guide practice, training and policy in counselling and community mental health.
