Biography

Dr. Jani is an Advance Accredited Practising Dietitian (AdvAPD) with the Dietitians Association of Australia since (2010-ongoing). She completed her master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from Griffith University (2008-2010) followed by her doctorate studies at Queensland University of Technology (2010-2014). Building on her doctorate work, Dr. Jani is currently establishing a multi-centric project (India-Australia-Greece) examining environmental and phenotypic determinants of picky eating in children and its association with their weight status. Dr. Jani has recently (2019) received seed grants ($15,000) to support commencement of the picky eating project.  Dr. Jani’s multi-country post-doctoral experience in India (2014-15), USA (2015-16), and Australia (2016-ongoing) furthered her clinical and research skills in undernutrition, genetic metabolic nutrition, and type II diabetes, and food mapping.

Dr. Jani commenced her position at the University of Canberra (2017-ongoing). She is positioned as a Lecturer (Education/Research Focused) in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is the domain lead for community and public health nutrition. Dr. Jani’s advocacy role as a community nutrition expert includes her participation as a leadership member of the Dietitians Association of Australia-community and public health nutrition Interest Groups, Interest Groups liaison officer for the Dietitians Association of Australia-Engagement and Development Committee, and member of the Early Childhood Education and Care national steering committee.
