Dr Wubshet Tesfaye (BPharm, MSc, PhD) is a pharmacist, pharmaceutical scientist, and an early career researcher. Wubshet completed his PhD in 2019 from the University of Tasmania and was recruited as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Canberra in early 2020. Prior to this, Wubshet worked as an academic scientist and lecturer in pharmacology and clinical pharmacy in Ethiopia and Australia. He also has considerable work experience in the community and hospital pharmacy settings in Australia, the US, and Africa.   

Wubshet’s research interest includes medication outcome studies in both communicable and non-communicable diseases, with main focuses on Indigenous health, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), chronic kidney diseases, and geriatric pharmacotherapy.

Wubshet is currently involved in the government and industry-funded pre-clinical animal studies and landmark clinical trials focusing on finding novel treatments for infectious skin conditions including NTDs in vulnerable populations, showcasing Australian science on a global stage. He currently co-supervises multiple research students at the University of Canberra.
