Application of novel portable sequencing technologies to monitor marine ecosystems and their dependent fisheries

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Catches of skipjack, yellowfin, bigeye and albacore tuna from the western and central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) contribute to over 60% of the global tuna catch. The high value placed on the fisheries making this catch, for both generation of economic wealth and provision of livelihoods, has resulted in the need for precise science to ensure that management actions minimise the risk of stocks falling below sustainability thresholds and that supporting ecosystems remain healthy.
