Project Details
Description
Research shows that the transition from nursing student to registered nurse is an important consideration for the
future workforce (Workplace Research, 2021). Supporting this transition and creating a sense of belonging to the
profession has the potential to assist with recruitment retention and workforce culture. The ACT is uniquely placed
to explore the transition of nurses into the role of Register nurses in a territory wide approach. Additionally, the
COVID -19 pandemic has created unprecedented circumstances in which this transition is occurring, and it is
important that we understand the barriers and enables to this transition.
Objectives:
• Develop an understanding of the barriers and enablers facing registered nurses in their transition to practice.
• Generate an understanding of the challenge of transitioning to practice in the current pandemic.
• Identify elements of a ‘good placement’, one that supports student learning and development towards
becoming a registered nurse.
