Description
Internet of Things (IoT) technology has gained immerse popularity in the last decade with reports suggesting by 2022, the number of IoT devices connected around the world will exceed 18 billion. IoT is many low-cost devices interconnected that communicates with total transparency with no human intervention, providing us with unprecedented opportunities to integrate technology into everyday things such as smart LEDs, temperature control, etc. Technological innovation ensures that it would be quicker to introduce IoT technologies, opening the way for a broader spectrum of industries to benefit from IoT applications. The problem with IoT devices is they essentially store data in centralized databases, increasing the possibility of sensitive data being manipulated even with the use of several digital forensic technologies.
Blockchain is an emerging technology that can solve some of the issues faced by IoT, including the elimination of central authority, providing transparency and improving security. However, limitations do exist due to the challenges facing the integration itself in the form of newly created obstacles, providing an opportunity for contemporary research ideas.
