Child & youth climate-safe air and heat intervention, communication and navigation framework for schools

We aim to co-design and pilot a child- and youth-centred climate-safe air and heat communication and navigation framework that supports mental wellbeing. The framework will position schools as inclusive clean-air and cooling resilience hubs for students and staff. It will specify trigger criteria, stakeholder roles, message content, and student action pathways for bushfire-smoke and extreme-heat days.
We will assess feasibility, acceptability, and usability in 2-3 preselected independent schools in the ACT, Canberra and identify barriers and enablers to inform a scalable, policy-ready model.
