Research Overview/Background: The National Gallery of Australia (NGA) has been through some changes in their organizational structure, staff and how they present works of art as a result they are also re-evaluating how the education team approach teaching and learning in the visual arts. The team have a lot of collective knowledge and experience and would like to bring this together to co-design a cohesive pedagogical approach to teaching the visual arts that distinguishes the Gallery from other institutions and can be applied across their programs.
Overall research aim: To articulate, define and position the NGA’s pedagogical approach to visual Arts Education in a National and International context. To create a model that can be applied across the NGA’s programs on and offsite and that can be used by schools.
