Description
The impacts of COVID 19 on healthcare utilisation is an area of high priority in Australia as there will be disruptive
medium and long term effects on the health system and cost shifting. The Australian Institute of Health and
Welfare. As a Commonwealth Integrating Authority the AIHW has unique linked data on a broad range of health
topics, that offer new insights on how Australians interact with the health and welfare systems. Access to AIHW
data will be important in developing novel research programmes that have a strong policy translation focus.
By undertaking this seed project, we will be able to access and understand better the potential of their data for use
in a wide range of projects. The AIHW have indicated that a core focus for them will be in modelling the impacts of
COVD and that if this pilot project goes well, they will look to expand the project further in partnership with UC.
