Description
Over a two year period this will enable the institute to:
• Attract and employ outstanding staff dedicated to the development of Open Source in the ACT;
• Establish the technical and operational infrastructure and platform for the Institute that promotes the organization and the ability to perform advanced research and development and innovation;
• Establish the OpenSI brand and presence (both nationally and internationally)
• Increase employability of IT graduates from the University of Canberra seeking careers in the Open Source sector (through focused training opportunities)
• Co-Fund Higher Degree by Research candidates in the Open Source sector
• Seed Open Source technology research projects specific to the advancement and impact of Open Source in the ACT
• Provide a basis for awareness and promotion of the benefits and capabilities of employing open source technologies and supporting capabilities
