Peanut butter, telomere length, and functional capacity of older adults

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This study plans to capitalize on an ongoing 6-month randomized controlled trial of peanut butter consumption in older adults funded by the Peanut Institute by adding telomere length, a novel biomarker of aging. The specific aim is to investigate the effects of 6-months of peanut butter consumption on telomere length in older adults, and explore if post-intervention telomere length changes are associated with changes in physical and cognitive function.
