Project: Research

Project Details

Description

In consultation with Parks Australia staff and Jawoyn Traditional Owners and drawing on the key themes and needs outlined in the recent Mary River Precinct Visitor Experience Plan and the Kakadu National Park Plan of Management, the broader project aims to document and investigate a range of culturally significant historic sites in the Mary River region, including Old Goodparla, Gimbat Homestead, Callanan’s Camp and El Sherana Camp. For this pilot project, we will be investigating the history and heritage of Old Goodparla and Callanan’s Camp and any associated pre-colonial archaeology.
