Protecting trout cod spawning against water level fluctuation in Bendora Reservoir

    Project: Other

    Project Details

    Description

This program supports Icon Water’s role in managing reservoir operations while proactively mitigating impacts on an endangered species under the EPBC Act and relevant ACT legislation. The project expands on the 2025 trial, focusing on the feasibility and effectiveness of using movable artificial nesting boxes to safeguard spawning activity under varying water levels. Some successfully spawned boxes will be transported to the Narrandera Fisheries Centre for hatching and rearing, strengthening genetic diversity in other stocked populations. NSW DPI Fisheries will, in turn, provide fingerlings for stocking into Bendora Reservoir and other ACT waterways.
