    Description

This application is to provide critical physical infrastructure to support a high-quality research centre in the Canberra and surrounding regions dedicated to virus research. The centre will provide a regional focus for researchers and research users on human and animal viruses and the diseases they cause. It will contribute to work understanding the mechanisms by which viruses cause disease, how the viruses can be transmitted, possible prevention strategies, eg vaccination, and future therapeutic options, eg anti viral drugs. It will lead to a better understanding of viral diseases, aiming to improve prevention and treatment to reduce the disease burden caused by viruses.
