Writing/Rights: Creative Practice in Contemporary Australia

    Project Details

    Description

This project investigates the under-research issue of the extent to which, and the conditions in which, creative writers and publishers in Australia have responded to the dynamic global events of this millenium. Its significance lies in the fact that creative writing is an important site of income production, meaing-making, and representation(particularly in Canberra, a town of readers and writers); and a form in which otherwise unexpressed anxieties are often explored. The research will build knowledge, provide a 'map' of contemporary writing and publishing practice, and indicate whether (and how) Australian writers and publishers are interpreting and representing current events.
