Abstract

This scoping report outlines the essential components of a dynamic microsimulation model for the Australian Government department of Health. The primary objective of the model is evaluating health financing policy options. These may be within the scope of the current policy debates - such as user co-payments for visits to GP's, changes to the medicare levy or combining safety net thresholds for the PBS and MBS - or extend beyond these to new innovative health financing structures and payment schemes.
