Abstract

The aim of this scoping study is to identify the requirements needed to model the NHMRC health and medical research workforce under NHMRC’s current and new funding programs. In particular, NHMRC would like to get a better understanding of the modelling both conceptually and technically; what the existing workforce model can already do; what steps are required to expand this modelling to capture the restructured grant program and other areas of NHMRC funding activity that may not be in the current model; how outcomes can be compared between the current and new systems of funding; how NHMRC and NATSEM can partner in the development of this modelling infrastructure, and how NHMRC team members can use the model to run their own policy scenarios.
