1.1. Mental health and wellbeing context in schools
1 in 7 young people (4-17 years) experience a mental health condition, over half of Australian teachers may be suffering from anxiety.
Sources of stress Worldwide, school performance is a major source of stress, worry, and anxiety in young people. For teachers, common sources include dealing with students’ behavioural challenges, meeting the needs of disadvantaged students, increasing time pressures, workloads and accountability, and limited social and structural support.
