Abstract
As curator, Gweneth was involved in all aspects of producing the BLOOM exhibition, held at the Gallery of Australian Design in 2012. She was responsible for securing funding, industry support and sponsorships. She reached out to health and design related industries as a way to gain feedback during the development of the exhibition. She also conducted extensive research and interviews which helped her to produce the content of the exhibition, as well as coordinated the production and assembling of the exhibition within the gallery space.
The aim of BLOOM was to raise awareness at a local, national and international level about how the design of our built environment impacts the health outcomes of our communities; to build interdisciplinary partnerships between health and design industries, as well as nonprofits and government organisations; and to demonstrate to the broader public the benefits of creating healthy, vibrant and sustainable places.
To promote the message of the exhibition across Australia, Gweneth co-edited the May 2012 issue of the professional journal Landscape Architecture Australia and had it serve as the Bloom Exhibition Catalogue. As part of this, Gweneth sourced articles that were written by public health professionals; authored a special feature which discussed the exhibition; and had a selection of exhibition case studies reviewed by design practitioners.
