Abstract
Research into boarding schools within Australia has been extremely limited. The purpose of this study was to examine Aboriginal girls' experiences attending an Australian boarding school through photoyarn, an Indigenous research method based on the photovoice method developed by Wang and Burris (1994). Data included photographs taken on mobile phones, participant responses to their own images, questions posted online within a private group via social media, and qualitative data collected through yarning circles and yarning individually. This article considers the use of photoyarn as a new Indigenous research method, with and by researchers and participants employing Indigenous research methodologies.
