Abstract
Boxing clubs in South Wales have a history of producing champions and binding communities. Its valleys once supplied the coal that powered Britain’s Industrial Revolution, but the region has grappled with unemployment and poverty since the mines closed down in the 1980s. Lance Cooksey takes us into the boxing ring to look at what the sport means to him and the communities in this area.
