Abstract
John Ward is an Irish Traveller (similar to Gypsies internationally), a member of a small ethnic minority who struggle for acceptance within the wider Irish community, primarily due to pre-conceived stereotyping and racist attitudes bestowed upon them by mainstream Irish society. This has resulted in most people within the Traveller Community having very limited possibilities of securing waged employment, and so due to customary traditions and societal snubbing many are forced to become opportunists and entrepreneurial in their of ways of generating income.
