The economic losses from weather- and climate-related disasters and the difference in disaster costs and deaths between developed and developing countries are described. The types of disasters (earthquakes, extreme temperature, floods, cyclones, tornadoes, hail, drought) and their health impacts are reviewed. The future trends of extreme events and adaptation, as well as conflicts in adaptation are discussed.
