    Abstract

Between 1965 and 1973 the newspaper of Australia’s national capital, the Canberra Times, subscribed to the London-based news feature agency Forum World Features which, it was later revealed, functioned as an anti-communist propaganda vehicle financed by the CIA. This paper examines the workings of Forum and the circumstances under which the Canberra Times subscribed to it. It demonstrates how a well disguised propaganda-inspired agency could penetrate the press in Australia.
