Abstract

Academics around the world have the requirement to conduct and publish research. Academic conferences serve as one vehicle to disseminate this research. Conferences also serve other purposes such as to create, maintain, and extend professional networks, celebrate achievements and service, provide professional development, and test new ideas and research. Such conferences are often organised by, or on behalf of, an academic association. This article will focus on the annual conferences of the 'big three' sport management academic associations: The Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ), European Association for Sport Management (EASM), and the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).
