N2 - Collaborating across borders in higher education has been shown to have myriad benefits. In this case study, drawing on small group discussions, whole group discussion, and anonymous written student feedback, the authors from different places across the globe explore preservice teacher's perceptions of learning multicultural songs in an online environment. Using thematic analysis, data were coded and analyzed into six overarching themes. Findings indicate students broadened their musical spectrum and developed music knowledge and skills and an understanding about educational models that can enhance the cultivation of a global mindset. While online delivery cannot fully replace face-to-face teaching, the study indicates that the online environment can open up new windows of opportunities for students to engage with cultural bearers around the world in real time.
