Research output: A Conference proceeding or a Chapter in BookChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter considers the role of cultural landscapes in the context of changing perspectives of heritage and the implications of these changes for the cultural landscapes. Cultural landscape as process gives attention to tangible physical locale, intangible attributes and associations, and landscape as living and dynamic. Landscape as process also aligns within the now widely held view that heritage is a ‘cultural or social process’. Cultural landscape as process gives attention to tangible physical locale, intangible attributes and associations, and landscape as living and dynamic. Landscape as process also aligns within the now widely held view that heritage is a ‘cultural or social process’. The application of cultural landscape ideas in both case examples in the 21st century has supported work in recognising and enabling local communities to collaborate with and participate in the stewardship of these locally valued places.
