Abstract
I curated this exhibition with assistance from Dr Sally Brockwell in the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific (CAP). It developed directly out of research undertaken during my 2014 ANU Vice-Chancellors College Artist Fellowship in the Department of Archaeology and Natural History, CAP.
Description: Archaeological sites, materials and collections have long been a fertile source of inspiration for artists. Yet there are also many contemporary artists whose work engages with archaeology indirectly, through their process, medium or aesthetic sensibility. This exhibition casts an archaeological eye on the art of several local and interstate artists working in printmaking, photography, painting and sculpture.
