Investigative journalism: A system of creativity

Research output: A Conference proceeding or a Chapter in BookChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Is investigative journalism creative? While creativity is typically associated with freedom, individualism, imagination and Art, this chapter will demonstrate that creativity is a process that can be examined in investigative journalism. It will also demonstrate that newer tools, practices and players are examples of a dynamic and evolving domain that continues to be relevant and necessary.

Creativity in journalism is about making the news not making up the news, and this chapter will apply the principles of the systems model of creativity to investigative journalism to demonstrate that, in a similar way to other forms of journalism, this particular genre is a creative practice.
