Abstract
A combination of factors has been linked to nurses' ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with mental health patients in hospitals in Australia.
The therapeutic relationship is a vital aspect of mental health nursing. Effective relationships have been associated with positive outcomes such as concordance with medications, increased patient involvement in their care and improved quality of life.
