Abstract
The elimination of hunger and malnutrition (which encompasses both deficiency and obesity) is a specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 2) and underpins the other Sustainable Development Goals in building on the broader Millennium Development Goals. As a basis for sustainable management, it involves an aspiration to ensure constant access to sufficient and nutritious food for all by 2030. That requires action by public and private actors regarding nutrition education, reduction of marketing that fosters harmful consumption in both the global South and North, strengthening of corporate responsibility, national and international measures to ensure the affordability of food in times of disasters or conflicts, and prioritization of food production over other commodities such as biofuels. Achievement of SDG 2 potentially addresses human rights concerns, builds the legitimacy of domestic and global frameworks, and fosters
