Abstract

This conceptual paper will review the goals as outlined in the extant PPM literature and will explore whether there is alignment between the goals of PPM as described by the literature and the goals implemented by PPM software vendors in their products. To achieve this thorough review of published PPM literature has been examined. A systematic analysis of over 50 PPM software vendors has also been undertaken. This paper highlights that there are gaps between the goals of PPM as described in the literature and the goals of PPM offerings provided by software vendors. Some of these gaps are examined both to inform practitioners and vendors alike, as well as to identify areas where further PPM research is needed
