Abstract

In 1995 at the 4th World Conference on Women, he Beijing Declaration and Platform forAction1 was negotiated. This set out 12 Critical Areas for attainment of women’s rights and firmly stated that Women’s Rights are Human Rights. This has formed an important set of objectives and UN Member states report against their progress each year at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York at the UN. Every 5 years there is a review of progress.
