Abstract

This website was designed to gather stories and anecdotes about the Apollo 11 moon landing from members of the public, particularly those living in the Canberra region. Moon Stories was part of the broader Promised the Moon project which was designed to commemorate and reflect on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar mission and the Canberra region's role in transmitting the first 8 minutes of Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon.
Some of the Moon Stories were also exhibited in conjunction with a number of contemporary artworks at the ANU SOAD gallery. The project was supported by an ACT Heritage grant.
