Socio-environmental approaches to support community decision making

Research output: Textual Creative WorksOther contribution

Abstract

Human needs are at the core of sustainability. The concept of sustainable development has three pillars - social, economic and environmental - which are interdependent and interlinked. Sustainability science aims to establish practices that harmonise human needs with the natural environment and reduce the impact of anthropogenic activities, through trans-disciplinary approaches and by tackling the challenges of sustainable development. To achieve this it is crucial to understand how human-environment interactions affect sustainability.
