Abstract

Sport Administration is a book designed for sport administration, management, and governance courses for upper-level or graduate students. This text is primarily focused on sport administration and governance in a global sport business environment. We have included fi fteen chapters to coincide with a typical semester’s length. The chapters include the following topics: Sport organizations, strategic management, organizational theory, leadership, human resource management, budgeting, risk management, sport governance, and several areas of specifi c sport governance and policy. This book is for individuals interested in a career in sport business and particularly for those who have ambitions to be a sport manager. In particular, this book intends to prepare students to become future managers and leaders in the s port industry, which differentiates itself from the foundation of sport management texts whose focus is more on the general introductory principles of sport.
