Abstract

A common problem experienced by institutions, in the challenge to keep up with the “rapidly changing nature of tertiary education, student expectations and the workforce”, is how to support first-year students in their learning. This chapter considers this observation from two aspects, curricular and co-curricular initiatives using as an illustration how two universities, the University of Canberra and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), have developed strategies to assist first-year law students in their transition to higher education.
